Take a tour of the mansion at Gore Place, one of New England's most fascinating historic houses. Your guide will lead you around the exterior of the house, pointing out interesting architectural features. Then, you'll go inside to see the elegant rooms on the ground floor. Tour takes approximately 45 minutes. You'll know why the home of Christopher and Rebecca Gore is known as the finest example of early 1800s architecture in New England.

Why Take a Tour of Gore Place?

  • Gore Place is one of the few early homes designed by a woman, Rebecca Gore.
  • The Mansion at Gore Place is said to be the finest example of Federal period architecture in New England.
  • On the tour, you’ll marvel at the graceful curve of the Great Stairs, the lovely Oval Withdrawing Room, Mr. Gore’s Office and Library, the Peacock Parlor, and Great Hall.
  • You’ll climb the Servant Staircase to visit the Servant’s Quarters and on up the Family Stairs to the beautiful Billiards Room, Gentleman’s Sitting Room, the Guest Bedchamber, the Gores' Bedchamber, and Mrs. Gore’s Cabinet.
  • All along the way, you’ll marvel at the style and quality of the furnishings, the many Boston-built pieces, and the personal touches that make this one of the great house tours.
