Living In the Dark: Life Before the Electric Light

Friday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Join an evening tour of the 1806 mansion at Gore Place. Living in the Dark will feature all the techniques and devices the Gores and their staff employed to light this beautiful country house. On this guided tour, you’ll marvel at the graceful curve of the Great Stairs, the lovely Oval Withdrawing Room, Peacock Parlor, Great Hall, Billiard room, and bed chambers. The style and quality of the furnishings, the many Boston-built pieces, and the personal touches make this one of the great New England house tours.

Gore Place is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and receives funding from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Tours are limited to 12 guests. Stairs are involved and masks are required. If you or someone in your group needs an accommodation to participate in this event more fully, please contact us before registering.
