Learn Sashiko with Mona & Zoe Mending
November 14 from 1-3 p.m.
Discover the history of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce worn fabric and repair textiles, and learn its fundamentals through hands-on practice. Participants will create and stitch Sashiko samplers while gaining an appreciation for the cultural roots of this enduring mending tradition.
This course is open to teens and adults of all skill levels. All necessary mending supplies will be provided.
Mariko Sugimori of Mona & Zoe Mending (www.monazoemending.com) explores visible repair through kintsugi and textile mending, drawing from her experience repairing items for friends and neighbors. She is passionate about making mending a meaningful and accessible practice, both in her own life and within the broader community.
