Regency Dance Workshop I

Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Have you ever imagined yourself, arriving at a Regency Ball, and being asked to dance by the handsomest person in the room only to realize that you don’t know the steps?

Instead of being a wallflower, come to Gore Place and learn English Country Dancing in a no-pressure, informal setting. We will be holding two Regency Dance workshops in our 1793 Carriage House, led by social dance historian, Ruth Benson Levin. Ruth will guide you through the different step patterns and partner rotations, so that the next time someone asks to put their name on your dance card, you will be ready!

If you are looking for an opportunity to put your new dancing skills to work, Gore Place will be holding a Winter Regency Ball on February 7, 2026 (rain date: February 8). Attendance at a workshop is encouraged by not required to attend the Ball – but you wouldn’t want people calling you “Mr. Collins” behind your back! Ticket discounts are available if you bundle one or both workshops with a Ball ticket, scroll down to learn more!

Space is limited. This event is intended for adults. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing; Regency dress is not expected for the workshops.

Save with a Ball Bundle deal!

We are offering two discounted package options for guests who want to attend a dance workshop or two in addition to the Ball. Click here, then select the package of your choice: either "Ball + 1 Workshop" or "Ball + 2 Workshops."

Cost: SOLD OUT
