Sheepshearing Festival Accessibility and Family FAQ Sheet 2019

The festival features both traditional manual blade sheepshearing in addition to electric sheepshearing. Afterwards, the sheep fleeces are collected and sold. Our Leicester longwool sheep are sheared the traditional way with other sheep brought in for the electric shearing.

Our fiber tent area offers dozens of fiber artists specializing in wool yarn, roving, knitting kits, and finished wool products. Some even bring animals or special demonstrations.

Don’t miss the popular sheepherding demonstrations with border collies on the South Lawn.

Our crafter area will have up to 75 booths with artisans selling handmade goods!

After viewing shearing demonstrations and shopping, join us on a tour of the mansion (additional fee), watch the historic re-enactors, listen to live music, take a wagon ride ($5 a family, free for GP members), and more!
