Do you wonder what was life like on a big country estate in the early 1800s? Take a Moonlight Tour and find out! You’ll see the 1793 carriage house, walk the grounds and tour the 1806 mansion (one of the few early homes designed by a woman.) Experts call the Gore mansion New England’s finest example of Federal Period architecture.
On the Moonlight Tour, you’ll start in the 1793 Carriage House with it’s restored carriages. You’ll follow the path to the mansion. There, you’ll marvel at the graceful curve of the Great Stairs, the lovely Oval Withdrawing Room, Gore’s Office and Library, the Peacock Parlor and Great Hall.
Finally, you’ll climb the Servant’s Staircase to visit the Servant’s Quarters and on up the Family Stairs to the beautiful Billiards Room, Gentleman’s Sitting Room, the Guest Bedchamber, the Gore’s Bedchamber and Mrs. Gore’s Cabinet.
All along the way, you’ll marvel at the style and quality of the furnishings, the many Boston-built pieces and the personal touches that make this one of the great house tours.
