Carriage House Concerts: “Music from the Misty Isles” O’Carolan Etcetera with Michael O’Leary

November 13 at 7:30 pm

$15 general admission, $12 members, $10 students with I.D.

The Anglo-Irish ensemble, O’Carolan Etcetera, plays toe-tapping fiddle, flute, guitar, and hurdy-gurdy tunes. Balladeer Michael O’Leary and his bodhran joins them for laments, lullabies, and love songs for this “Music from the Misty Isles”  performance.

The timeless melodies of Turloch O’Carolan. English dance tunes that Jane Austen would have known.  Irish jigs and Scottish airs.  Reels that set toes a-tapping.  Laments, lullabies and love songs from across the Celtic lands.  Scots-Irish music transformed into Appalachian Old Time tunes and songs. Their music will transport you to another time and place (and wouldn’t that be nice!)

North Shore-based O’Carolan Etcetera has entertained Gore Place audiences since 2015.  They are Cindy McIntire (flutes and whistle), Adrienne Howard (fiddle and hurry gurdy), and Richard Luecke (guitar).

Michael O’Leary is a singer of traditional Celtic and maritime songs and ballads.  He has performed at the Boston Celtic Music Festival, Irish Connections, the New England Folk Festival and many other venues.  In warmer months, Michael hosts Celtic music cruises aboard Gloucester’s schooner Lannon.
