Snowmen at Night
Each page of the children’s book is posted at different points on the property. Moving from page to page, visitors can read the book from cover to cover while spending time outdoors. The Story Trail is free and open during daylight hours. Return every couple months to read a new story!
This program is supported in part by grants from the Waltham Cultural Council and Watertown Cultural Council, both are local agencies supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Help out with the farm work on the Gore Place Farm! Check on the animals, collect eggs, plant seeds, water the raised beds, and harvest vegetables. The program runs from May through September. Age 2 with an adult. $10 per child. $5 per child for Members at Household Level and above. Advanced tickets required.
Take A Walk Backpacks
With a Take a Walk backpack children and their accompanying adults can explore the open spaces and hidden places of the 45 acre estate. Backpacks contain activities, a magnifying glass and binoculars. Monday – Friday 9-3 and Saturday 10-3. $5 per hour, per backpack; free for members. Seasonal and special themes available. Currents themes described below. Come into the Carriage House to get your backpack and begin your adventure!
Temperatures get colder. Snow is on the ground. Appropriate for ages 3-7.
Discover the stories of Christopher and Rebecca Gore, their household, and the events of the Federal Period as you tour the 1806 mansion. All tours are appropriate for ages 6 and up. Monday through Friday: available on the hour between 10am and 2pm. Saturdays at 12, 1, 2 and 3pm. $12 per adult, $6 per child ages 5-12, free for Members. To learn more, visit the Tours page.
